I had the privilege and honor of assisting one of the greatest wedding photographers in the world last week at Triangle Institute of Professional Photographers. Hanson Fong is known all over the world for his amazing wedding photography. It was a real inspiration to learn under one of the industry's greatest teachers and hang out with him for an entire week.

Triangle Goes To PPWV

PPWV had their annual convention this past weekend, and Triangle was well represented. The PPWV President was, well, me, and four of our six judges were Triangle Members (Bill, Joan, Dave and Rich,) with one, Jerry Tomko, being an ex-member and old TIPP Party Legend. The sixth judge was from Kentucky, but we won't hold that against her.

Triangle Administrative Secretary Becky and 2nd VP Tammy were in my posse all weekend. I was a little disappointed that I didn't get two beefy guys in black suits and sunglasses to follow me around all weekend, but apparently we didn't have the budget for secret service agents.

Congratulations to Gerry Solan, who won the Out Of State Best of Show Award, and to Mark, who received more bling from PPWV plus his Masters Degree this year.

Thank you for coming down to WV to support me. I love you all!!

We Survived TIPP 2008

Well, we made it through another TIPP, and what a week it was! Three (count 'em—three) emergency board meetings, one mini-meltdown, one missing Assistant Director, a swing dancing lesson, a mini-course on websites without internet access (which still got great reviews,) a hotel that is going to the dogs (literally) and a banquet that was worthy of a prime time slot on Comedy Central. (wife phone??—Bill kills me!)

All in all, it was a rockin' good week. There were some tense issues that the board had to deal with, but we remained true to our motto of "never let them see you sweat." The students and instructors didn't suspect a thing, and everything ran beautifully. The talent was top notch and the students were happy—a winning combination. The mini-classes rocked and it was great to see the banquet filled to capacity. TIPP is definitely growing!!

A big wooo-hooo to Becky for keeping us all together. She is an amazing woman and I am honored and privileged to be her sidekick. Thanks to the assistants and to the board members who pitched in and helped whenever they were asked, (and often before they were asked.) Bill and Ed did a great job with the photos and equipment and keeping Frank's place warm until next year. Frank was missed, though. Bill looked really lonely up on the Holiday Inn roof.

I am already looking forward to TIPP 2009!!!

It was so good to be with the Triangle family again. I especially enjoyed celebrating Becky's birthday Sunday night with DJ Rick.

And Michael Cerizo is not only a very inspirational speaker/photographer, he's also one heck of a dancer! Good times.

I only wish Cheryl had been there to dance with us. :(

Triangle Winter Meeting

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I'll bet every one of us can think of at least one familiar face that we missed seeing at the last Triangle event. Here's the challenge: Call, e-mail, or "snail" mail that person...use the name/address directory, and let that someone know they were missed and you look forward to seeing them the last weekened in January.Then, call three other members and remind them of the January convention dates. Hope to see you then!

Well, the holidays are over and it is time to get back on track. To help you do that, we have moved our spring meeting to January. It is now known as the "Winter meeting". This is the time to invite a friend to attend this meeting and get to know our Triangle family. They can attend for $50.00. If they like what they see, the $50.00 can be applied to their membership. This is a great deal!!!

I have been involved in Triangle for 10 years and I can honestly say that we have come a long way! I can't tell you how much I enjoy the conventions. You get to see old friends and make new ones as well. There really is a family atmosphere at Triangle. I have been to other conventions and felt like just a face in the crowd, but at Triangle it is different! It's a place where everyone knows your name!(or at least your face).

By the way, you have a Triangle board who is very active in securing the talent line-up that we have at our conventions and meetings. They review the critique sheets that you complete and they work behind the scenes to make sure that each function runs smoothly. We are fortunate to have many past presidents attend our board meetings and they are just as active as our elected members.

If you have a suggestion, let a board members know, or send your suggestion to the Triangle office and I will make sure the board sees it. I look forward to seeing everyone at the end of January.

winter meeting

Hi all!! Just wanted to say I'm looking forward to seeing old and new friends at the winter meeting January 27 and 28!!! To our members.. please bring a guest! We have much to offer along with some really COOL people to keep you entertained. Stop by hospitality. There is a lot you can learn there. Triangle is Back on Track

I just want to say that this has been a great year. Membership in the association is on the rise and the Triangle Institute was the best we have seen in a long time. Many thanks to the speakers, board members and students who made this all possible. We had a lot of "first timers" at the Institute and they were impressed! The change in date allowed the classes to go on field trips throughout the city. Many of our speakers were impressed with the city of Pittsburgh. We also had time to play, with the first annual ping pong / poker tournament and party. Keep up the good work everyone!
